2023 European Convention - latest

We have a number of things to pass on in this update, the first being that we’re working hard to now bring all our organisation together and make Cobh 2023 a wonderful convention honouring the memories of Stan and Ollie.
We recently had an email from Cork’s premier newspaper The Examiner, telling us that we featured in a piece they ran on the Commodore Hotel, the main convention hotel. It proves how much the management of the hotel are looking forward to having us as they mention us as their most looked forward to guests in 2023!
Here’s the link.

Roger Robinson is busily working away on his Seaside Extravaganza weekend that is taking place the weekend after Cobh in Southend on Sea, (“South of what sir?”) If you fancy extending your stay within these isles and joining the fun, please contact Roger at roger.robinson5@btinternet.com to book your spot but please do it soon as places are strictly limited. Quite a few Cobh delegates will be heading across the water to take part.
We have decided on our convention t-shirt and are now taking orders for them. We bypassed some of Ireland’s larger companies who were very nice to deal with and wanted our business but we made the choice to use one of Cork’s small, one-person enterprises and give the work to them. These small companies are the lifeblood of small towns and villages in Ireland and the likes of us who will buy a large-ish amount of shirts will make a difference to them.
The shirts will be good quality round-necked t-shirts, white in colour, and will have the Cobh Convention logo & text printed on the front. They will cost €15 and come in the usual sizing of S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL.
We need to submit our order quite soon so we are asking for your orders straight away. Please reply to this email stating quantity and SIZES required. Payment can be made with your final installment due in April or, if you have fully paid already, please make a bank transfer to the following, not forgetting to state your name and the fact that it is for a shirt.
Payments to be made in Euros only and by bank transfer to Account Name... SOTD Cobh Convention IBAN... IE63BOFI90109558311370 BIC... B O F I I E 2 D Bank address…. We will also take a Paypal payment to Liam’s personal Paypal account but PLEASE make sure you tick that it is a gift or that you are paying a friend, otherwise we will get charged. The email for Paypal payments is, liammuld@gmail.com
We’ve recently been given the Cobh Port schedule for 2023 and there will be two liners in town over our weekend. It is pretty spectacular to see one of these massive ships towering over the small town of Cobh. On Friday the 8th of September for example, the Regal Princess liner will be docked. It is 330 metres in length and has a capacity for over 3500 passengers. Seeing these ships up close is quite an experience. To put it in perspective, the largest liner ever built is 361 metres long.
As always, if there are any questions, queries or complaints, feel free to hold onto them, sort them out yourself and not bother the convention committee with them
All the best
Liam, Stephen, Colin, Sean & Tom
