Having the Time of Our Lives
I've created a group for Sons of the Desert tents to share details of their meetings and other Laurel & Hardy related events. It should save people a lot of time finding the numerous separate groups/pages that already exist.
Grand Sheiks, feel free to post links to your own sites & any details of your meetings (date, time, venue etc.). Interested members, use the search option to find your nearest tent. Alternatively, follow this link for a list of tents in the British Isles...
https://www.bowlerdessert.com/tents Many of these have more personal contact details.
This group will act as a kind of search engine and generate interest and boost attendances.
The new date for the Sondayz now is September 2-3 2023.
Information can be found on our Facebook page and on our website. Sons are already signing up, so that is looking very promising to be a growing event, even after a 3 years break.

2022 UK Convention - Sons Entertain
John Ullah writes, “No doubt you are all excited to once again be preparing to attend a Convention. I’m sure you’ll agree, a much anticipated highlight will be the Sons Entertain. So, I need to know ASAP if you would like to take part.
“It’s time to TCP those vocal chords, get your costume out of the wardrobe, and dust off your dancing shoes. After a three year gap, let’s try and make it one of the best ever. And we plan to finish with a special, Martin Tierney Tribute Singalong. If you would like to offer an act please contact me on my new email address."
Boys in town
Lookalikes Gary and Robbie were in Ulverston last week and visited the Laurel and Hardy Museum, where they met up with Matthew Cooper.

Them Thar Hills Tent of Carlisle
Tuesday 1st March saw the tent’s 5th birthday since re-floundering.
It was good to see Louise, Gillian and John back. New Sod Les attended his first meeting, since the 80s. Good to welcome Holly to her first meeting too - her twin sister Ivy couldn’t make it as she was out climbing.
Another laughter-filled evening was had by all, with the misery, erm mystery prizes from the (grand) raffle going to good homes
Meetings are, as before, on the first Tuesday of each month.

Lives and Magic
Last year I discovered the Sky Arts TV channel, which is not on subscription - it is FREE on Freeview 11. There have been many interesting features recently on a wide range of Hollywood film stars.
On 24th February they had Laurel and Hardy - Their Lives and Magic, described as a “pleasing account of a true friendship between men”. This included a rare interview with Lois Laurel.
