Birmingham meeting cancelled
John Ullah tells us that his Laughing Gravy Tent had to cancel its October meeting last week. He adds, “To be honest I don’t think we’ll have another one this year.”
Beau Chumps Tent
Several of us Chumps have been looking at Laurel and Hardy 'in colour' recently, and while I consider myself a traditionalist - I will only ever watch the boys in black and white - I have a growing admiration for some of the coloured stills that have been emerging online of late. Combine this with one of the absolute best images of Laurel and Hardy (from Early to Bed) and we have a new website header.
The Chumps will be hosting a Virtual meeting this Wednesday (14th) at 7.30pm UK time. All are welcome - wherever you are - so please request an invite and I'll get it back to you asap.
Seen on the Facebook page of the Edinburgh Blockheads Tent. Rich Pine writes, “Here’s a drawing I did a few years back that I thought some of you might enjoy seeing.”
On the telly
In what appears to be a monthly offering these days, Talking Pictures are showing The Big Noise on Thursday 29th October at 10.45am. So if you are confined to barracks due to local lockdown you can perk up a bit by watching the Boys.
Let’s face it
Ronny Brouwer runs the fabulous Laurel and Hardy themed bar in Zandvoort in the Netherlands and he has produced Laurel and Hardy illustrated FACE MASKS which he promoted on his facebook page. As it now seems likely we will be wearing face coverings for a long time to come perhaps we Brit's should consider getting some for our tent members.
"That's another fine mess, Stanley"
"That's another fine mess, Stanley" was the front page main heading in The Star (04.10.20.). The caption read, “Boris Johnson's dad caught flouting coronavirus mask rules for second time in a week”.
Boris Johnson's dad Stanley was snapped in a busy airport reading a book with his mask pulled down.
Dr Who tribute
I watched the extras on the latest Dr Who animation (Fury of the Deep) and two of the characters are based on L & H... Mr Oak & Mr Quill.
