Boys at the Bull 2025

There was much fun and frivolity at the Bull Inn in Bottesford as the Nottingham Beau Hunks Tent celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday, June 14th. Over 30 attended the event enjoying an afternoon of Laurel & Hardy films all specially selected by members of the tent. The event was wonderfully supported by members from the Tit for Tat, Twice Two, Helpmates and the Sunderland Beau Chumps Tents. The show included of course the film “Beau Hunks”, which just happens to also be the title film of the Beau Chumps Tent. This became the subject of quite a tricky observational quiz.  After a fierce but friendly rivalry, the Chumps were victorious and were deservedly awarded the Jeanie Weenie Trophy… a trophy proving to be much travelled, well loved and now belonging to the Chumps!  The Hunks took creditable 2nd and 3rd places.  The result wasn’t really that surprising as the Chumps had an unfair 15 year head start after recently celebrating their 40th anniversary!  It was great meeting up with GS Mike Jones and the Chumps and sharing in our celebrations.

A special thanks also goes to tent member, John Palmer, who brought his magnificent working Model T Ford and some life size figures of the Boys, sitting quite snugly and at home in the car.  Many great photos were taken of the car during the afternoon.  Also it was great to see some of the more elder “legionaries”  who were there at the beginning some 25 years ago,  including Dave Scothern (the Tents first GS) and Robin Cook (the original 8mm and 16mm projectionist).

In the morning, a large group visited the Plough Inn in Barkston (Beatrice Olga’s 1st pub) and payed a floral tribute at the grave of Stan’s father, Arthur Jefferson, a great man of the theatre.

The day ended at the Bull Inn with the traditional raffle, the usual long round of toasts and of course the Son’s song.  On behalf of The Beau Hunks tent , I want to thank Martin Powell (Vice Sheik), Paul Wright (Grand Vizier) and everyone for their support in making our special day a great success.  So…here’s to the second 25 years!
