Blockheads in USA
Oasis Number Three -- the Block-Heads Tent -- is celebrating its 60th Anniversary on Sunday March 8th! There'll be toasts, door prizes, a delicious Tinucci's dinner, and a great film program!
I'm excited about the release of my first book (and probably my LAST), BLOCK-HEADS, sixty years of laughter with Laurel and Hardy, a 100-page edition looking back at six decades of the tent and SOD activities! (It's probably of prime interest to our own tent members, but there is a lot of Sons of the Desert history intertwined in the text and photos.)

Max Wall book
MAX WALL: THERE AND BACK – TWICE has been (after much delay)and is now available from Amazon. This was the biography Michael Pointon worked on for years but didn’t live to complete. He left it to me to finish.
It includes a number of L&H references, including Max having corresponded with Stan in the early 1960s. Stan’s autographed photo to Max that’s in my L&H A-Z appears again here.
This is the publisher’s page about it:

Call of the Cuckoos Tent

Goodbye to Steve
On February 28, US Sons said goodbye to Steve Wichrowski at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels and St Mary’s Church in Longmeadow, following by mass and committal services at St Adalbert Cemetery in Enfield.
Ben’s praise
It was interesting for me to hear Ben Elton talking about Rick and Ade's love of Laurel and Hardy and how that slapstick came into their comedy - the correlation is really obvious now that I think about it...

Friends reunited
Dave Fullbrook used to be the Grand Sheik of the Dirty Work Tent in Watford, but he moved, with his wife Laura, to Port Elizabeth in South Africa a long time ago. His friend Richard Smith, just like Dave, was a well-known figure at early UK Conventions. Richard moved to Guernsey.
Richard and his wife Kathy were on a cruise that stopped in Port Elizabeth for a day in February, which was a great chance for Richard and Dave to reconnect.
