Around the World with Laurel & Hardy
You will have read elsewhere on this site about Roger Robinson’s very successful trip to Finland. In preparation, he put together ten articles gleaned from his Hard-Boiled Eggs and Nuts book from 2021. The articles came from ten different Sons from ten different European countries and the delightful mix made a lovely introduction for the relatively new Helsinki tent.

Hard Boiled Eggs & Nuts is also the title of the newsletter of the County Hospital Tent of Bradford. We picked up a copy from Grand Sheik Dave Ballard and were impressed with its style and humour.
Laurel & HarDay
Thanks to everyone who came along to our 34th 'Annual' Laurel & HarDay. We've had some great feedback, which is very much appreciated.
As always, Ian did a fine job as our resident MC. He faced the situation with determination, after a recent (rather delicate) operation.
Our professor Jack did a swell job of putting together our new and improved version of a game show classic!
A big thank you to Arthur, Albert, Dave, Linda, Mark & Dave for taking part in "It's Not Bullseye", not forgetting our celebrity dart thrower Stormin' Norman. Thanks to Eric, for his quiz, those of you who bought raffle tickets, and a big well done to newcomer John Childs on being the 30th Kneesy Earsy Nosey championship.
Thanks also to Liam, Ant, Jo, Josh & Julia for their input with "Hats Off to Arthur Housman". (Next year it will be "Hats Off to Anita Garvin"). An extra thank you to Graham & Shelli for looking after our new memorabilia stall.

We could not resist wondering what it would look like colorised.
This still is from Pardon Us (1931), Laurel and Hardy’s first starring feature-length film. It’s a deleted “wrap-up” scene in which an older-looking Stan and Ollie are apparently fishing with two boys. It is from footage cut from the released film, with Stan telling the tale of his misspent youth.

Museum in Germany under threat of closure
In an article from the Solingen Tageblatt, Wolfgang Günther talks about the future of the Laurel & Hardy Museum. The article is from August 4th.
It threatens no less than the closure of the museum and thus the dissolution of this unique Stan and Ollie collection. There are currently only three Laurel & Hardy museums in the world, in Ulverston (GB), Harlem, Georgia (USA) and in Solingen. With the 'loss' of the museum, Solingen would lose a tourist attraction and Stan and Ollie fans a place of longing. This must not happen!
Fancy Dress Party of the Century
It has become a thing in recent years at conventions to have themed evenings. And it's a tradition to have the fancy dress competition. We'd like to combine the two ideas and have a themed evening that celebrates 100 years of "Laurel & Hardy" films.
We know the boys featured together for the first time in 'The Lucky Dog' in 1921, then again in 1926 when they were both working for Hal Roach. But it was 1927 when they became 'the team'. So let's all commemorate this special centenary by having our themed evening all about Laurel & Hardy (it could happen!).
We'd love to see as many Stan & Ollies as we can. Maybe you'd prefer to dress as one of the supporting actors, or you might choose to be an actual 'scene from a film' (something often done at the fancy dress). It's entirely up to you, and you don't have to do it if dressing up isn't for you.
Let's make it one big Stan & Ollie party. As always, there'll be the usual trophies for the best ones, and some alternative prizes for runners up.
We will be secretly judging as the night unfolds, and will announce the winners before we relax and enjoy the band "Naked Stereo."
