On radio and television
It was quite a few days for references to Laurel and Hardy on things I watched - what a treat!
While listening to 'The Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise Show' on BBC Radio 4 Extra on Saturday October 10th there was a sketch where Ernie's date was unimpressed that he'd taken her to see a children's film so Ernie offered to show her a film he'd just got from Sweden - which turned out to be a Laurel and Hardy film! Eric seemed a bit surprised when the girl storms off, saying 'I thought everyone liked Laurel and Hardy'!
Later the same day Talking Pictures TV showed 'The Killing of Sister George' where Susannah York and Beryl Reid dressed up as Stan and Ollie respectively to go out to a club and put on an act - with Susannah doing some good impersonations of Stan's grin and hair fluffing! Alas apart from this scene it's not a film to watch with the family with some of the language and content!

Sunday October 11th saw Sky Arts continue their love of the documentary 'Laurel and Hardy: Their Lives and Magic' to pass the afternoon - I always watch it when it's shown and it never fails to cheer me up and put a smile on my face!
Lastly, on Wednesday October 15th on ITV3 the episode of 'Classic Emmerdale' included a talent show in the village hall with B&B owner Terry Woods and his young son TJ dressed as Laurel and Hardy! Unfortunately we didn't really get a chance to see them do their act to judge how good they were!
