Lee McBeath RIP
RIP to yet another old pal from Sons of the Desert, Lee McBeath. In 1996, Lee and his wife, Dee, turned a biannual tongue in cheek convention bid into reality when they hosted the Sons Cruise on a Carnival ship. Loads of fun! We have missed them both at recent conventions. Till we meet again.

I'm reading Making it So, an autobiography by Patrick Stewart, a Yorkshire man (Mirfield) by birth. He talks about his paternal grandmother, who, before her husband deserted her, lived in Tyneside.
In later life she lived alone in Blackpool and that's where this anecdote takes place, when Patrick was still in his early twenties...

If you fancy a visit to the seaside, why not head to Scarborough to watch Dean and Rebecca Sill’s award winning documentary Laurel and Hardy's Yorkshire Adventures at the North Bay Playhouse, at 5:30 on Sunday 13th September?
Earlier that day there will be a silent film show at the venue at 2:30 featuring two films, both Laurel and Hardy classics From Soup to Nuts and Putting Pants on Philip.
They will be accompanied by a score by keyboardist Howard Beaumont

For this month, we are exploring five iconic filming locations across the Los Angeles area, spanning from 1925 to 1971. Here's a preview of the filming locations included in our then and now virtual tour:
The Culver Hotel: We begin with this historic landmark, featured in the 1925 Charley Chase comedy, Innocent Husbands.
Santa Monica Pier: Our journey takes us to this classic seaside destination, which served as a filming site for a 1971 episode of the detective series Cannon titled Dead Pigeon.
Downtown Los Angeles: We head to the city center to examine an unusual "high-rise" location from the 1927 Our Gang / The Little Rascals short, The Old Wallop.
Culver City Neighborhood: We travel to a quiet area of Culver City to see how the setting for the 1932 Laurel and Hardy classic Helpmates has evolved over the decades.
Main Street, Culver City: We conclude our tour by visiting the historic Main Street district, featured in the 1933 Taxi Boys comedy Taxi Barons.
